frankfurt and lufthansa
in the airport for a long layover. we left at three forty five am and are sitting at what we hope to be the correct gate. things keep changing and we have a long time to wait before they can even process where our flight is going to be departing from. so we find ourselves sitting here together after a few "random" searches and patdowns. germany is a weird place and the only country where we have had to pass through passport control even tho we are not even leaving the airport. yea they better have good food on the flight to make up for it. home soonish...only twelve more hours before we see philly and another one or so before the limerick towers will be our north star instead of st peters basilica. see you all soon

ciao bella roma
as we drive away from rome towards pompeii it is amazing to think about all we have seen and experienced in rome. the vatican museum along with the sistine chapel and st. peters were amazing. the paintings and sculptures were simply breathtaking especially considering when they were created. we then had a fabulous dinner before the hotel. earlier in the day we spent some time in the city walking around seeing some ruins and beautiful plazas. we also went to the trevi fountain where many took advantage of the superstition of throwing in coins to return to rome find true love or get a divorce. its an interesting progressionof throwing in coins to say the least. we also dealt with a few desaparecidos throughout the day but they returned to us one way or another.
the day before we saw the colosseum the pantheon the forum and many ruins left from that time period. most were intrigued about the vestal virgins and their role in society and i i personally enjoyed the language roots of the colosseum and the legend of the founding of rome. it was definitely an educational day. we shall have to see what awaits us in pompeii.
it has been a good tho long trip and it is hard to believe we are headed home in two days. hopefully everthing goes smoothly from here on out. ciao bella roma...

land ho!
after a long wait of getting on the boat...as in waiting at the beach the street the station the bus the parking lot and the ship we definitely had a great restful and fun time on the ferry which turned out to be more like a cruise ship than we were imagining. all images of the staten island ferry disappeared as we boarded the eleven floored ship. after leaving our rooms and waiting for a few hours in the lounge we successfully finished our trek across the sea. now...how long will it take for us to unboard and find our hotel...

el autobus
we are now on the bus for barcelona. it will be a complete day of travel with a short stop in zaragoza. for our last night in madrid we feasted on gazpacho paella and cream puffs. we also learned that tweety is piolin in spanish as the waiter was joking with the vegetarians about the chicken in the paella. also i just want to clarify that it is a little difficlt to insert symbols and punctuation and capital letters so i do feel a little guilty writing in this manner as a teacher but this is better than nothing...haha. i hope all the fathers out there had a great day especially my own even if their children are out exploring europe...hasta luego

primer dia...terminado
it was a long first day and, thanks to the fast moving legs of lola the tour guide, we got to see a lot of the city. we ended the day with a stop at the prado museum where we saw the works of goya el greco and velazquez. tomorrow we will continue with other main attractions in madrid and some will take an optional trip to toledo. y ahora por fin vamos a dormir! hasta manana, mis lectores ingleses...
in frankfurt
sure it was a long flight but i would definitely fly lufthansa again. we are awaiting our flight to spain with bellies full of pasta and brownie cake with strawberries and whipped cream. definitey above average food and service.
